Kelly Clarkson American Idol gives back that sent entertainment penn liveKelly Clarkson, shortly following the completion of the 1st season of American Idol, she was accused of working with a record company.

American Idol's rules stated that a contestant (including Kelly Clarkson)was not allowed to compete on the program if they had been linked to a record company.

However, Kelly Clarkson was cleared of all allegations, as she had only had a contract in order to conduct demonstration work.

Kelly Clarkson debut album, Thankful 's achievement was largely due to the impact from Idol as the CD single managed to sell 236,000 copies in its 1st week of sales in the United States it spent 5 weeks at #1 in Canada.

Kelly Clarkson - The First Season of American Idol

Kelly ClarksonOn September 4, 2002 Kelly Clarkson won the first season of American Idol. She was earning 58% of the vote to 42% for Justin Guarini.

Choking back tears, Kelly Clarkson performed the ballad "A Moment Like This", the song written for the winner of American Idol, which would subsequently appear on her debut album, Thankful.

The song's music video was filmed at Pantages Theater in Hollywood, and incorporated short scenes of Kelly Clarkson performing on American Idol.

But Kelly Clarkson decided against college b/cuz Clarkson had "already written so much music and wanted to try on [Clarkson] own. And [Clarkson] figured you're never too old to go to college."
